Measure the full exit route

Record the sofa’s width, height, and depth. Then check door openings, hallway turns, stair landings, elevators, and gates. The narrowest point usually determines whether legs, doors, or another part needs to come off.

Remove only simple, safe parts

Cushions and removable feet can reduce weight and protect walls. Reclining sections may separate, but mechanisms are heavy and can pinch. Tell the crew about sleeper frames, recliners, or sectional connectors before arrival.

Protect the path

Move fragile objects and roll up loose rugs. Reserve an elevator if the property requires it, and arrange legal loading access. Keep children and pets away from the carrying route.

Share condition concerns

Disclose pests, sharp damage, moisture, or contamination before scheduling. A crew may need a different plan or may be unable to handle the item.
