Make dense material visible
Concrete, tile, soil, roofing, and plaster can become very heavy in a small volume. Do not bury dense material under bags or cardboard; disclose it when requesting an estimate.
Contain sharp edges
Use appropriate containers for nails, broken tile, glass, and jagged metal. Do not overload bags or leave fasteners protruding where someone can be cut.
Keep regulated material out
Asbestos, lead-contaminated debris, solvents, chemicals, and wet paint need specialized handling. Stop work and seek qualified advice when the material is unknown.
Leave a practical loading route
Stack debris on a stable surface with a clear path to the truck. Tell the crew about stairs, narrow access, parking restrictions, or material located away from the driveway.
